We are a fresh collaboration that has come together around a passion for Jesus, music and God’s family, the church.

Our Story

Joyful Noise is a collective that exists to write songs from the Word, to the heart, and for the church.

Joyful Noise is made up of writers, musicians and pastors who are committed to equipping the church with songs that are lyrically rich, engage people’s hearts and minds, and that are usable by ordinary churches. Joyful Noise began during the first Covid-19 lockdown in the UK, bringing together a small team to record an EP (Come People of God) entirely remotely. After the positive reception of those songs, work began on a second EP (No Other Saviour) which was released in 2022. Joyful Noise also have the privilege of leading sung worship at conferences such as Word Alive, Growing Young Disciples and Keswick.

Why we’ve come together

Our vision is to equip congregations with biblically rich songs that engage their hearts and enable them to “come before God's presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him” Psalm 95 (KJV)

Who's Who

Tom Brewster

Tom studied music at university and loves (almost) all kinds of music. In 2018 he started setting Sam’s lyrics to music, which he continues to do now for Joyful Noise. Tom loves to hear people relating and responding to God in His word through song. He’s married to Ruthie, and has a daughter, Miriam and son, Benjamin.

Sam Brewster

Sam Brewster studied music and theology at university, and is currently the minister of Trinity at Four, Henley, which he has led since its inception in 2018. He’s been writing song/hymn lyrics for a number of years, and continues to do so now for Joyful Noise.

Ruthie Brewster

Ruthie studied music at university, followed by medicine. She splits her time between being a mum of two and being a doctor, and is involved in writing the music and playing violin with Joyful Noise.

Sarah Beattie

Sarah Beattie, vocals, is a children and families’ worker at St Clement’s Church and she also works for an autism consultancy in the northwest! She is a gifted singer-songwriter in her own right.
